Well hello again, Reader!

It's been a joy to spend these last few months with you. Together, we have explored the many facets of opening new doors and walking uncharted paths to create new opportunities for joy in our lives. We have discovered the power of love and gratitude, and are becoming much better at applying these principles to all aspects of our lives. If you have not yet sojourned with us, and are new to the Polite Society Magazine experience, we welcome you with open arms and wide smiles. It's a pleasure to meet you. We ask (very politely, of course) that you take a quick look at the "About Us" and "A Proper Introduction" sections, so that you might understand a bit more about how and why we came to be, and what exactly we hope to accomplish with this magazine.

And so our journey on the path toward wholeness continues as we attempt to bring the subject of "Wisdom" into focus. Wisdom— wisdom— hmmm— let me ponder on that for a moment. Just what, exactly, is wisdom, and how does one become wise? Better yet, how does one recognize wisdom within oneself?

What's that you say? You don't know?

Let me assure you, dear friend, you are not alone. I have searched as far and wide as modern technology and dusty old books would allow, and concerning wisdom, I've found there are a great many more questions than answers. But take heart — for I have also discovered that real wisdom lies in the asking. So let's ask a few questions ourselves. After all, the Bible (which is widely accepted to be chock-full of words of wisdom) tells us to, "Ask, and ye shall receive."

That's great advice.

Of wisdom, one thing is certain: it does not necessarily come from knowledge, and it certainly isn't cleverness. Rather, it seems to hail from reflection and experience. We gather experience as we go about our lives, and it is solely up to ourselves to choose what we will glean from it. Polite Society has asked a few wise people to share with us what they have gleaned and gathered along life's path of experience, and now, through their articles, we share that knowledge with you! Within the articles of this issue of Polite Society Magazine, you will find a basic summary of Philosophy 101, a narrative on the allegory of Plato's Cave Theory, sage advice on how to tune the world out to hear the wisdom of your inner thoughts, a brief tutorial on the art of meditation, and as always, a gentle nudge along the path of enlightenment through etiquette.

As you examine Polite Society Magazine's view on wisdom, we would love to hear your thoughts upon the matter. We most cordially invite you to visit our blog and share your own understanding and questions on the subject of wisdom.

Oh— and never be afraid to ask the questions. Without the query, there can be no answer. Remember, that a wise man once said,

You can tell whether a person is clever by their answers. You can tell whether a person is wise by their questions.
